As Culinary Director at Vitalia Mentor, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it centers on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference.
I stepped into senior living after exploring many facets of the culinary world. Along the way, I realized this path allowed me to combine my love for food with a deeper sense of purpose.

One of the most valuable experiences that prepared me for this role was serving as Director of a Culinary Arts Institute. There, I led training for both front- and back-of-house operations. That position showed me how essential great guest service is to a successful dining program. I also had the chance to make meaningful improvements and set high standards within reach.
What I appreciate most about working in senior living is the warm reception I receive each day. The many greetings when I arrive and the conversations with residents—especially their comments about a favorite dish—remind me how powerful food can be.
Each morning, I check kitchen readiness, review production levels, and assess how the team is feeling. From there, I visit each kitchen, get operations going, and communicate the day’s goals clearly with the team. These small touchpoints help build momentum.
For those considering a culinary career in senior living, I recommend keeping an open mind. There are so many ways to make a difference. You have the chance to enhance lives, not just with meals, but with care and connection. And the reward? Knowing you made someone’s day better.

To me, success looks like a smooth, productive day that ends with a clear plan for tomorrow. It’s the calm that comes from consistency, paired with the drive to keep improving.
At day’s end, I take the greatest pride in knowing I’ve contributed something meaningful—whether it’s a favorite dish, a heartfelt conversation, or a comforting moment. Thank you for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to serve at your table. I’m truly honored.
