Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful Vitalia Mentor community and services.
Growing up, my mother held the Director of Nursing role in the senior living industry. My grandmother spent her last six years living in my mother’s community. Visiting and interacting with older adults became a natural and regular part of my life. As I pursued my career and college education, I chose to study healthcare administration. It allowed me to impact the lives of aging adults while also putting me in a leadership and business operations role that I enjoy.
Every decision we make in senior living has the potential to positively impact the lives of our residents, staff, and community. Leading a team that shapes the culture and affects others’ lives is something I find fulfilling.
One of the greatest myths about senior living is the belief that residing in a senior living community means giving up personal freedoms, hobbies, and cherished belongings.
I believe it’s crucial to invest time in building relationships with our prospects to understand their needs and dispel myths about senior living. By doing so, we can offer a new perspective on what we provide and the significant impact on their well-being within our industry. Living a long life well involves maximizing years and keeping older adults active, engaged, and social, which enhances their health outcomes and quality of life. During our tours process, we love to involve our residents and resident ambassadors. They can share their experiences and perspectives on moving into senior living at Vitalia.
I hope you found this helpful, and I encourage you to share it with others because here at Arrow, we are committed to reshaping the perception of senior living! Search #whatseniorlivinglookslike, and you will find so many great things that happen in our community every single day.
