VITALIA Active Adult Community – North Olmsted Utilizes Organization to Reduce Stress and Increase Productivity

Category: Senior Living

Author: Greg Turvey, Plant Operations Director

Being organized can help you feel happier, healthier, and more relaxed, while disorganization can lead to an increased stress level and depression. Clutter leads to heightened stress levels. So, not only is decluttering office spaces and storage rooms a relaxing task, but it can also provide a better understanding of inventory and space requirements.

When you prioritize organization, you give yourself time to focus on what really matters, like your daily schedule and tasks. This allows you to concentrate on what needs to be completed that day, instead of where you put the tools and materials you need to finish the items on your to-do list.

Organization creates a calm mind which brings answers to the forefront of a problem. Here at VITALI Active Adult Community® – North Olmsted, Plant Operations is focusing on lowering our stress with better organization to create improved productivity.

When we are done using tools or any equipment, we return it to the proper storage areas. We spend a little time each week making sure our areas are swept and organized. If we got pulled away and had to leave items in areas, we tidy up. We also do daily building rounds to make sure all areas are in a clean and tidy order.

When my physical space is organized my mind feels at ease and I feel like I can conquer more tasks. It helps me feel less overwhelmed. When I know where everything is, the stress is way less and I can better help our team and the residents.

When we get deliveries and items are not put away it really drives me nuts. When my desk is a mess and not in order, I feel very overwhelmed. I try to clean it daily if possible.

No matter what your job or occupation, the time spent managing your workspace and work area will pay off greatly with reduced anxiety and greater yield.
